An architect considers himself an inventor, but all of the gadgets he invents don't sell, and the pressures begin to affect his marriage. One weekend when his wife is out of town, he goes to the racetrack with a friend and winds up winning quite a bit of money. He parties with the friend and two girls they meet. When he awakens out of a drunken stupor, he finds the girl he was with has been shot and killed, and he is suspected of the murder.
